Please plan accordingly.\n\n\n \n\n\nWhat is the World Drumming Workshop?\n\n\n-an invigorating workshop experience that shows you how to:\n\n\n \n\n\n(1) play the African djembe drum\, \n\n\n(2) play exciting traditional world rhythms\, \n\n\n(3) use strategies for tapping and expanding your own musical creativity and \n\n\n(4) lift your mood through social drumming.\n\n\n \n\n\nLearn and play exciting and beautiful traditional rhythms and songs from all over the world- from places such as Africa and South America. Yes\, beginners are warmly welcomed and drums are provided. All that is required is a willingness to try. Learn how to express yourself using your drum through “in-the-moment” original music creation.\n\n\n \n\n\nExperience creating your own rhythms and finding out how to connect them with others. Even if you consider yourself “unmusical”\, group drumming is an accessible entry point into the rewarding world of music creation.\n\n\n \n\n\nDrumming with others is scientifically proven to improve your mood\, relieve stress\, increase mental focus and to support social connections. Discover why people from all over the globe have been drumming together for thousands of years.\n\n\n \n\n\nAbout the instructor:\n\n\nJim Donovan M.Ed.\, Leader of the band Sun King Warriors\, Assistant Professor at Saint Francis University\, is an inspirational performer and educator who believes in the power of music to bring people together. Over the past three decades\, Donovan has performed thousands of concerts and learning events across the US and Europe. As a performer\, Donovan writes and records with his rootsy groove-rock band Sun King Warriors. As an educator\, he brings his motivating brand of open-hearted\, big-energy to every event he leads- whether they be a conference keynote\, corporate team building\, educational training or wellness retreat.\n\n\n \n\n\nDonovan got his start as a founding member of the 3-time platinum 90’s band Rusted Root\, where he co-wrote and performed “Send Me on My Way\,” a song whose unforgettable whistle has been featured in both Matilda and Ice Age. During his touring work with Rusted Root\, he shared arena stages with rock legends such as Carlos Santana\, The Grateful Dead\, members of Led Zeppelin and Sting\, among others.\n\n\n \n\n\nDonovan is the author of the book “Drum Circle Leadership” and regularly offers training to organizations that teach people how to lead group music-making as a way to support wellness and social connection. DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, October 20\, 2018 Second Breakfast is excited to return to Steamworks Creative! \n\n \n\n\nA product of love for good music and great friendships\, Second Breakfast is a band comprised of thoughtful musicians. Their journey began when husband and wife duo\, Kendell and Rick Romanelli\, began performing together in 2002. Kendell’s soulfully sweet yet powerful voice\, developed over many years of vocal experience was complimented by Rick’s bluesy accompaniment. It wasn’t long before Doug Wells (of Kids After Dark fame) joined them\, providing a solid bass foundation. In 2016\, they partnered with Rick’s lifelong friend and cousin\, Maria Elliott\, whose well crafted jazz and rock guitar styling provided a perfect fit. Chip Homer’s creative and energetic percussion stylings were the final piece of the puzzle. Second Breakfast’s repertoire consists of various musical treats from Beatles to Police and from Texas country blues to Tin Pan Alley standards. Ours set list will be sure to include songs you know & love with songs you don’t yet know but will surely love!\n\n\n \n\n\nBYO Beer\, Wine & Snacks! $10 cover\nDoors open one hour before showtime.
