An Afternoon of Storytelling and Music with Local Author Chuck Lanigan

Following up on Labor Day, Steamworks Creative offers an afternoon of storytelling and music with local author Chuck Lanigan. Chuck will read excerpts from his historical novel (working title Wilderness Salvation ) alternating with 19th- century songs of labor, emigration and romance. Musical selections include. • I'd Cross the Wide Atlantic • Cotton Mill Girls • Love is Teasin' • In Soho on Saturday Night (an early Pittsburgh favorite) • The Song of the Spinners Chuck Lanigan sings, writes and presents lectures and spoken-word performances on subjects ranging from labor and identity to the Irish famine. He received a Pennsylvania Partners in the Arts grant and has collaborated with CMU's Future Tenant gallery, Rivers of Steel, the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust, the Carnegie Library People's University and the Pittsburgh Irish & Classical Theater. $10 at the Door For more information email outreach@alcstudies.org
